Hello Friends, I am back in LA working on some more color stories for you! I will post some travel notes from my trip soon but I first wanted to let you know that I will be team teaching "Blogging Your Way E-Course" with Holly Becker of decor8. I am truly honored to be a part of such a wonderful learning environment. I must admit I started this blog the weekend before the course ran last April, yes, I set up this blog to participate in that course! I learned so much about blogging from the experience. This time around I will be sharing what I know about photography and styling along with Holly's vast knowledge of everything to do with blogging. Not only is Holly a wealth of blogging knowledge she is an amazing, inspiring and generous teacher. If you are at all interested please hurry and register while there is still space! xoleslie

Hello Friends,
These are some of the photographs I took for my column on Decor8 called "Color Me Pretty". As you can see the palette focuses on pinks, melons, peachy tones, a little black and a touch of gold. This combination is warm, feminine and not too cutesy thanks to the black. Like many, I am on the whole obsession with Morocco band wagon. I can't help it. I am fascinated by all the tile and iron work patterns. Not to mention all the other architectural elements like arched doorways, interior courtyards and fountains. I love the bold blues against the whites and the dark woods, really beautiful. However, it is fun and dramatic to borrow some of these ideas and mix them with a less expected color, like pink -don't you think? As I suggested in the column, it adds such personal flavor to one's home if you are able to bring in a few design touches from your favorite places around the world.
Let me give you some of the links for items used in the photographs. The black cameo buttons came from Michael Levine quite a while ago, but they may still carry them. The pink vintage stamps came from a recent day at the Rose Bowl Flea Market. The graphic black and white patterned paper is by Midori. I bought my well used white pouf from the former Shabby Chic a very long time ago but I know they are available at John Derian. In Los Angeles, Kenza Imports has a fantastic collection of Moroccan made furniture, lanterns and housewares. I used watercolors and screen printing to create most of the patterns in the photographs. I will be back to give you the name of the bright fabric paired with the white lantern as I am traveling right now and do not have it with me. Have a great weekend and thank you for checking in with me!

I am back into another color investigation. I could not resist as this combination feels very much like summer. My weekend plans changed so I was able to shoot some more pictures for you. This post is long, there are 11 photos in total! Hope you enjoy.
That was a lot! Sorry if it seemed a little long winded -I could not stop! It seemed like everywhere I looked the same colors kept popping up.
As for the items in the photographs, the fabrics and some of the flowers in the first image are from Michael Levine. The Moroccan teacups in the eighth image are from Kenza Imports located here in LA. The lace like paper in the tenth image are sold per sheet from Blick art store. In the same image the colored tape I bought from Ginko Papers who I heard about from Ez at Creature Comforts. Please let me know if there are any other items you are curious about.
Since starting this blog I had not printed any of my images. It was fun to quickly print some out on my little printer and make the gridded board for the last image. I like how it shows all the colors that I have been obsessed with over the last few days. Thank you for stopping by and many thanks for all the encouraging comments -they really make my day. Have a great week.
p.s. Thank you for letting me know about not being able to see the images in this post. I hope I have fixed the problem... please let me know if its still not working. The images are also loaded into my Flickr. I am new to this and still have much to learn about what formats are best for displaying my images...Sorry...hope you can enjoy now.
