Exploring Green

 

Hello, I hope you are finding time to enjoy summer. (Oops, and winter for my wonderful Australian friends!) 

My days have been a little hectic lately! However, I have felt calmness while escaping into the color green this week. The investigation started with the buttons.I just love their gold and green combination. I then ran around my yard snapping photos of some of the plants and unripe fruit. Staring at my yard photos then inspired me to pull out my watercolors and doodle some little patterns for this collection. I also wanted to share some bold green patterned fabrics with you as I think they are great, especially in summer. If they seem too over the top for your home, I could see them incorporated in a small way like as fun napkins on a solid white table cloth. Sometimes, just staring at a bold swatch of fabric in my journal or a detailed button can inspire a whole new creative project!

Here are all of my photographs that I put together for my interview with Holly at Decor8. I am really looking forward to my column over there and putting together more color schemes for you. I am totally blown away with the positive response and feel such gratitude towards Holly for letting me be a part of her blog. I know most of you have seen all these images last week so I am posting some of the smaller images a little larger.

Some of the fabrics used in this post came from Purlsoho. Most of the stationary came from either Jonathan Wright and Company or Reform School, both are located in LA. The flip flops are all from Old Navy. The white metal cutout lantern was from Maison Midi.

Festive Snapshots

 

With family and a few good friends we celebrated my daughter's third birthday on the weekend. I baked her favorite carrot cake and we had a little pinata. We hung the papel picado banners over the patio and they created a really pretty effect in the breeze. The kids ran around chasing bubbles and letting a couple of the balloons go into the air "by accident". They watched them float away till they could not see them anymore. I cannot believe she is three.
